The Tesari Charitable Foundation funds progressive initiatives in medical care, education and community infrastructure designed to improve people’s lives and futures.
We believe that every person deserves a healthy and productive life. Tesari pursues creative and innovative solutions to help alleviate some of the most pressing problems facing people in the Philippines every day. We approach these challenges through short-term solutions, such as nutrition support, and long-term solutions that contribute to making more sustainable and healthy communities.
Who we are
The Tesari Charitable Foundation operates primarily in Toledo, a small agricultural city near Cebu City. It was founded in 2005 by Lilian and Michael Overs in response to the pressing needs of the Toledo community
The rural poor face the greatest inequalities in health care and pharmaceutical access in the Philippines. Our programs offer free medical assistance and preventive care to low income communities in the Toledo area.
Our free, hands-on livelihood training programs work to provide skills, increase opportunities and help augment the monthly income of marginalized people in the area.
Public space is rare in Toledo, yet it is vital for fostering strong communities. Our programs provide the area with much needed public space for gathering, community building and education.
Inadequate sanitation resulting in the practice of widespread open defecation has negative health and social impacts. Our sanitation projects are designed to empower rural villages to stop open defecation.
